SS Bellyroll for now. The name will change. Probably a few times yet.
This is a 1/12th scale model of a boat made from 4x18' foot side panels with a symmetrical bottom 64" inches wide in the middle. Where the middle (on any symmetrical boat) is the widest part. 27 degrees side flare, which is a bit more than the old Honky Dory. I used a hot melt glue gun and a cheap plastic "For Sale" sign for the model. Formica is better but it's not easy to buy any more.
The main thing I learned from this model is models aren't worth much. I need to make some full size 1/4" plywood panels glass them up and then play with adjustable ribs. Full size models are where it's at. This 1/12th scale model does tell me this is a bit too much rocker. I'll deal with that by dishing out the chine rather than reducing side flare. Will I put a transom at one end? Will I ever want to use a motor? I doubt it. I already have a good lake boat. This is small white water camping boat for 1 to 5 day river camping trips. Where everything stays dry except the people.
I will have to figure out how the under-the-deck partitions will work with a deck depression for the rower and any passengers. The model
will be useful for that. I do need a better name for this boat. Bellyroller won't last for long.
