Ran Deso a few weeks back and will be going next week. Looked at the boat today, on the last trip I put a small hole in the bottom near the front.
It occurred to me that if that hole was created on day 1, water could start creeping into the cells of the plascore for a week. Just wondering how much water can migrate into plascore when this happens.
I have to get under the boat and patch the hole. I may drill a few tiny holes in the lowest part of the floor to see if any water drips out.
After a few holes in this boat, not one of them has even come close to going through to the inside skin. That means I need more fabric outside and very little inside.
As for bagging on the outside, it would seem like a good idea to cut out the bottom. Then glass the outside with bagging then put it on. It will still be flexible enough with no glass on the inside. Glass the inside later. I think one layer of 10 ounce inside will be enough.
I used some 16 ounce bi axial kevlar with 10 ounce glass on top. Not enough. I need at least another layer of 16 ounce glass also. It’s just not strong enough. Bagging could allow 3 layers and help keep the epoxy weight down.
