Hello again. I completed one of Jason's Skiff kits about 6 years ago. I have a few questions for anyone who might be able to help me.
1) I chose to oil my gunnels and fishing seats, rather than epoxy and varnish. Anyone ever have trouble with the oiled wood separating from the epoxy joinery?
2) My oarlock block, which I oiled, fractured a year ago. I applied epoxy and "peanut butter," clamped it, and it worked great until now, it broke along the original fracture line. Anyways, I cut out the remaining portion of the block and made a new one out of maple. Is my wood choice for this block wrong?
3) Instead of oiling this new maple block, I coated it with epoxy, and plan to varnish it. Any suggestions about this before I varnish the new block, and the rest of the boat's interior?
Thanks,
Robbie
