The tech support guy suggested that I consider placing a layer of kevlar felt on the bottom of my boat and then a layer of glass on top of the kevlar instead of two layers of glass. Does anyone else have an opinion? Good idea? Bad idea? It would end up costing about $135 extra.

Kevlar felt is an interesting idea. I've used woven
Kevlar fa
ic, and I've used fiberglass felt.
Kevlar is fantastically strong. It is hard to get
it saturated with resin if
you try to do it without a fiberglass roller.
With a fiberglass roller it works.
A roller is like a stack of quarters on a wire frame,
where the quarters have sharpened edges. The roller helps
get the air bubbles out.
Kevlar is hard to sand, so you don't want it on the
surface. That's why the fiberglass rep suggested
burying it under a top layer of fiberglass.
